One of the biggest advantages: long-distance inspection
One of the biggest advantages of a professional drone is the possibility that companies, the government, the army and other interested parties have to carry out inspections and checks remotely. Drones can be equipped with one or more cameras and have a range of 2 to more kilometres via remote control. There are even drones that can be controlled wirelessly over a distance of 100 kilometres or more. This means that dykes, buildings, bridges, but also enemy targets can be watched and filmed from a distance.
Drones are also ideal for creating original footage
Individuals, enthusiasts and filmmakers can use drones to make cool and original video recordings from the air over or over large distances. With a good professional drone, such as a DJI Drone, perfect recordings can be made of special events, natural areas or buildings. For example, a wedding on the beach or anywhere else can be filmed beautifully from above. But also company parties, historical buildings or big events such as Queen's Day or a Liberation Festival can be filmed beautifully and uniquely by using a drone with a camera. And think of beautiful nature images that you can make with a drone during a holiday. This can be video footage as well as aerial photographs. This way, you create unforgettable memories of the most beautiful moments in your life.
Life-saving function of drones in emergency situations
It is increasingly recognised that a professional quality drone can be a life-saver in a variety of situations. For example, drones can be used for emergency deliveries from hospitals, laboratories or pharmacies, for example, to quickly deliver organs, blood and medicines.
And don't forget these plus points of drones
People who have discovered the benefits of drones also appreciate the environmentally friendly nature of the drone. Drones fly on electricity and not on paraffin or petrol and are therefore environmentally friendly. And of course, they are also smaller than real planes or helicopters, which means that the energy consumption is a lot lower.
Besides the environmentally friendly nature of electric drones for professional use, drones can be used to increase safety. For example, police and rescue services can use drones to search for missing persons, on land or at sea, and fugitive criminals. Because this happens by air, searches are safer.
Finally, a last real advantage of the drone phenomenon: in the future, drones can also be used to send postal packages. This will probably reduce the cost of sending parcels, because fewer vans and fewer people will be needed to arrange transport, making it cheaper.
Drones models: what types of drones are available today?
Today, there are numerous types and models of drones. Usually, the following types of drones are distinguished: FPV (first-person view) drones, quadcopters, mini drones, stunt drones and hexacopters.
One of the most popular drone variants are the FPV drones. These drones always have a camera on board and can be controlled via live images from the respective camera. FPV drones have four propellers, making them very precise to control. Because the pilot can watch the drone live, FPV drones can be controlled over large distances. Furthermore, FPV drones are available at attractive entry-level prices. Among the most popular types of FPV drones are the various models of the quality brand DJI, such as the Aspire, the Mavic Pro and the various versions of the Phantom.
In addition to the FPV drones, the so-called quadcopters are a fine type of drone. In design, these drones resemble the FPV drones. However, quadcopters do not necessarily have an FVP camera or other type of camera. So pay attention to this when purchasing. Quadcopters are especially popular for transporting packages and small items because they are very manoeuvrable and easy to control.
Another variant of the drone are the so-called mini drones. The name of this type of drone says it all: these are small drones. Drones that are small and light and can be used indoors. The mini drone is a good choice for children and novice pilots. They are often very cheap. A disadvantage is that these drones often break down faster than average.
Then there are the so-called stunt drones. These drones are mainly used as a hobby to do all kinds of flying stunts with friends or acquaintances. With these drones you can do somersaults, roll sideways in the air or make a looping. This type of drones is often more robust, because stunt drones need to be manoeuvrable and able to take blows. The nice thing about stunt drones is that they are often available for relatively low prices and you can also use them for speed races in the air. Many stunt drones are equipped with cameras so that you can make cool recordings of your tricks.
Finally, there are hexacopters, sometimes referred to as hexadrones. These are special drones that have six propellers (the term hexa means six) and are therefore very stable in the air. For this reason, the hexacopter is often used to transport cargo and packages through the air. In the unlikely event that one of the six propellers fails and no longer works, the hexacopter will not immediately fall out of the sky but will continue to fly. These are, of course, great advantages, but hexacopters also have a serious disadvantage. Compared to quadcopters, which have four propellers, hexacopters are comparatively very expensive.
Even more possibilities offered by drones
Within the categories of drones mentioned, there is a lot of variation in terms of price/performance ratio and possibilities. In addition to the quality of the drone itself and the ability to fly, there is also a difference in camera quality. That is why it is important to decide for yourself what you want to do with your drone. Is it for professional use, such as transport or making video recordings in difficult to reach locations? Then choose the best possible quality! If, on the other hand, you want to fly drones for hobby use, a drone that is a little less advanced, but often cheaper, will suffice. Good luck with your choice and have fun flying your favourite drone!
